PART TYPE
A Part Type is a classification that defines the role and purpose of a component within the manufacturing or supply chain process. It helps categorize parts based on their function, source, and usage. The six predefined Part Types serve specific roles in engineering, production, and inventory management.
- PP (Purchase Part) – Components or materials procured from external suppliers.
- SA (Sub-Assembly) – Intermediate assemblies that are part of a larger product.
- FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) – Parts designed for easy replacement in the field.
- TG (Tooling & Gauges) – Specialized tools or measuring instruments used in manufacturing.
- FG (Finished Good) – The final product ready for sale or distribution.
- Phantom – A virtual or non-physical grouping used for planning or assembly purposes.
